How much litter should I put in the litter tray, and how long will it last?
We recommend filling the litter tray with 1.5–2 bags of Fukumaru litter (approximately 7–10 cm deep) when setting up a clean litter box. This depth allows the litter to absorb moisture effectively, form strong clumps, and gives your cat enough litter to bury waste comfortably.
After that, scoop solid waste and clumps daily, and top up with fresh litter as needed. Under normal use for one average adult cat, one top-up bag typically lasts around 2–3 weeks, depending on your cat's size, litter box habits, and cleaning routine.
Replace all the litter and thoroughly clean the litter tray when the litter has broken down into fine particles or its odour control performance has noticeably declined.
Is it safe for kittens?
Yes! Fukumaru tofu litter is suitable for kittens.
However, very young kittens may sometimes chew or play with litter. We recommend supervising kittens until they are fully litter trained.
Does it control odour well?

For the Applewood variety, the natural wood particles may occasionally cling to the fur of some long-haired cats. If your cat has a long coat, we recommend choosing our Green Tea or Corn varieties instead.
What should I do when changing from another litter?
Some cats need time to adjust to a new litter. We recommend gradually mixing Fukumaru with your current litter:
Days 1–3: 25% Fukumaru / 75% current litter
Days 4–6: 50% / 50%
Days 7–9: 75% / 25%
Day 10: 100% Fukumaru
This gradual transition helps your cat adapt more comfortably.

My bag has lost its vacuum seal. Is it still okay to use?
Yes! Fukumaru litter is vacuum packed to save space during transportation. Occasionally, the bag may lose its vacuum during shipping due to minor air leakage. This does not affect the quality or performance of the product. If the packaging is otherwise intact and the litter remains dry, it is completely safe to use.
CanI use it with an automatic litter box?
Fukumaru tofu litter is not recommended for use with most automatic litter boxes.
As a biodegradable litter, it may soften or break down more quickly than clay litter, which can affect the performance of some automatic cleaning systems.
For the best clumping performance and user experience, we recommend using Fukumaru tofu litter in a traditional litter tray.
